Our Practice
Our periodontal practice is devoted to restoring and enhancing the long lasting natural beauty, function and comfort of your smile using conservative, state-of-the-art procedures.
Highest Standard of Comprehensive Care
The gums serve as the foundation for the teeth. Healthy gums are essential for the strong, comfortable, beautiful smiles we all desire. Our office works hand in hand with you and your general dentist as a TEAM. Together, we provide the comprehensive treatment best suited to your individual needs. Once we help you achieve a healthy periodontal foundation, your dentist can more easily and efficiently build the smile you have always wanted.
Our office teaches that preventive care and education are the keys to optimal dental health. We strive to provide "dental health care" vs. "disease care". However, if you are experiencing discomfort, perhaps due to trauma or infection, we make every effort to care for you as soon as possible.
Education & Prevention
The more each patient understands his/her oral condition, the better he/she is able to decide on appropriate treatment. A thorough review of your medical history helps avoid any potential interactions between medications you're already taking and those that may be used or prescribed during your periodontal visit. It also alerts us to potential oral manifestations of systemic conditions, especially diabetes. Research continues to link periodontal disease with other conditions, including cardiovascular disease, premature delivery of low birth weight babies and even certain cancers. That’s why we focus on thorough exams – taking blood pressure readings, tooth by tooth periodontal charting, oral cancer screenings, biopsies and digital x-rays when necessary.
Regular cleanings by a dental professional are as essential to preventing dental disease as daily oral hygiene. Our recall system coordinates WITH YOUR GENERAL DENTIST'S. Dr. Hanlon creates an oral hygiene regimen customized to meet each patient's specific needs. Then, her hygienist provides all the tools necessary and demonstrates how each is used. As your needs change, so will your hygiene routine. We will always be there to help you keep that beautiful smile healthy and clean!
Uncompromising Safety
The safety of our patients and employees is critical. Every staff member receives annual training in the latest infection control techniques. We strictly follow the guidelines set forth by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Dental Association (ADA), Ohio Dental Association (ODA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), including steam sterilization of all non disposable instruments. Our office is equipped with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and each staff member is certified biannually in Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Training & Expertise
We want you to be confident knowing that your treatment is being delivered by a team of highly trained and skilled clinicians. We pride ourselves in keeping you comfortable while providing the care you need to keep your smile healthy. We regularly attend lectures, meetings, and periodontal conventions to stay informed of new techniques, the latest products and the newest equipment that a modern dental office can utilize to provide state-of-the-art dental care.
Dr. Mary Ann Hanlon has served the Cincinnati Dental Society-as a member of Council and as Secretary-for over ten years.
